LED FLASHTUBE KIT FOR MODELS |

Finally, now available, a new LED kit to replace your old flashtube. This was four years in the making. Contains all the parts necessary to replace your old, dim, or non-working neon flashtube. This LED has a bright white flash. You can click on the directions link to see how to install the kit. Click on any picture to enlarge it. The 680 is a special case. The LED kit will work, but will require a lot of extra work and it will be best to send the 680 center section to me. Call for details.

Original Sun Flashtube - $125.00 |

Sun flashtube in good working order. Has been tested in a Sun distributor machine. Works in all Sun testers. Does not work in Allen, Marquette, Snap-on, etc. If you want a spare flashtube or yours is just dim and you want to brighten things up, this is the way to go. Now here is the IMPORTANT thing to read: if you have a non-working flashtube, this flashtube MAY NOT fix it. You might need a capacitor kit upgrade or you could have other problems. If you are unsure, I would install my LED kit. That eliminates 99% of things that cause a flashtube to fail. The one in picture may not be the one you get, but it will be a tested and working flashtube. | ||

Idler Wheel Kit - $115.00 |

New and Improved. This is a new idler wheel kit for a Sun distributor tester machine. It will work in any Sun distributor tester regardless of age. The new idler wheel and bearing kit has been developed to be quieter in operation and more reliable in extended service. The tread (width) of the wheel has been increased from 15/32 to 9/16 of an inch. With age, the original Sun idler wheels harden and become very noisy. They also develop flat spots from not returning the RPM back to zero when shutting off the machine. If your machine is very noisy or thumps when running, this kit will cure those problems. The kit contains one idler wheel, two washers, one spacer and two bearings for the idler fork assembly. It takes half an hour to complete the installation. On some 1950's models you may have to reuse the original bolt. Color of wheel may change from time to time.

A kit containing six capacitors, one resistor and two diodes and other miscellaneous parts to update some of the electronics on your tester. Sun produced these models from the late 1950's and on up into the 70's, so after that amount of time a tester could use an upgrade. This kit is easy to install with basic soldering skills.

Located in the power supply. The original trigger coil can overheat, pop open and leak inside your tester. Check yours where the four wires come out of the coil for splitting and leaking. | ||

Battery Replacement Circuit Board - $195.00 |

This circuit board is designed to eliminate the AA and D cell batteries that run your rpm and dwell meters in models 400, 500, and 600. No more meter fade or leaky batteries with this circuit board. After installation, the rpm and dwell meters will need to be adjusted. It would be best to send me your rpm/dwell unit. I will remove the old batteries and holders, mount the new circuit board and make some electronic upgrades with diodes & capacitors. I will also adjust the meters, using one of my machines. The new circuit board gets power from your tester's power supply unit. You will need one of my capacitor kits installed to free up two wires to power the circuit board. Your rpm and dwell meters need to be in working order for this kit to work properly. | ||

Here is a very nice original Sun pulse amplifier with just a few blemishes on the front. Updated wither was made to test point distributors. When electronic distributors came along in th a new lead, boots & clamps. A must for testing electronic distributors with a Sun distributor tester. Your Sun distributor teste 1960’s and 70’s the pulse amplifier was needed to trigger the flashtube. Easy to use with four connections between the tester, pulse amplifier and distributor. A pulse amplifier is NOT needed when testing Mallory Unilite distributors and Pertronix conversions. They are triggered with a battery.

They are 16-page instruction manuals used when testing distributors. I had a local printer reproduce the original Sun manual. It is NOT a cheap copy of a copy! The cover has the same heavy paper stock as the original. Nice bright white pages. Replace your old, dirty dog-eared manual with a sharp new one. | ||

A different adapter for Marelli distributors. This one piece adapter has a bowl cut into it to allow the drive dog to stay on the distributor shaft while testing. No need to remove nut or drive dog assembly. This adapter will fit in the clamp arms of any model tester that Sun made.
